Research Technologies Life Sciences (RTLS) supports domain-focused research. Its primary mission is to empower researchers with cutting edge, enabling information technologies in both basic and biomedical life sciences within IU and in the state of Indiana and beyond.
RTLS consists of three subunits: the Advanced Information Technology Core, which acts as a gateway for IU School of Medicine researchers to Research Technologies systems and services; Biomedical Applications, which provides custom applications and services to support life sciences projects; and the Center for Computational Cytomics, which supports basic biology researchers.

The HUBzero Platform is a web framework for the easy creation of an entire scientific hub. IU is hosting a one-day, hands-on workshop to teach you how to create scientific simulation tools using the Rappture toolkit, and how to deploy the tools on a site powered by HUBzero.

The fast development and deployment of cloud computing systems create needs for a standalone block storage system which can provide flexible in-line and off-line services to virtual machine instances and virtual clusters. This talk presents the Virtual Block Store (VBS) system.
