We’re increasingly using a variety of handheld and mobile devices to connect, and IU systems need to be able to provide access at critical times and places where we need to retrieve data or update information.
To gather creative ideas on how to pursue this charge, the mobility team recently hosted a town hall gathering of tech savvy populations across all of IU’s campuses. Overall, participants envisioned a future in which “My mobile device is constantly aware of the time of day, my location, my IU calendar, what classes I am taking, and my employment status.”

In the classroom
Course registration: Bring together all the info from the registrar, course descriptions, professor ratings, etc. in OneStart — map this out so that I can see the locations of the classes, resources for my selected classes, etc.
My schedule for classes — give map of where classes are and how to get there. What’s on the syllabus? Where is the professor? Set up meetings; see locations on maps
Who is in class today? I want notes later … Or can’t get to class … App will tell me who is there so I can contact them for notes

Hands-on EndNote workshop and Q&A session (IUB)

What: EndNotes: The Basics When: Wednesday, March 23, 1:30-4:30pm Where: Library Information Commons, STEPS classroom
This STEPS workshop gives you an introduction to EndNote – a free application available to you that allows you to organize and manage bibliographic information. Learn to capture citation/bibliographic information, use word processing programs to reformat your in-text citations and bibliographies, and use a wide variety of style formats. Also learn how to merge libraries, work with footnotes in “Cite While You Write”, add text to citations in “Cite While You Write”, change text in libraries globally, and link references to files and web sites.
You can also take advantage of the EndNote Question and Answer Panel prior to the workshop from 10am-noon. Simply email your questions to ittraining@indiana.edu 48 hours prior to the session to have them addressed in the workshop.

    Research Technologies Life Sciences (RTLS) supports domain-focused research. Its primary mission is to empower researchers with cutting edge, enabling information technologies in both basic and biomedical life sciences within IU and in the state of Indiana and beyond.
    RTLS consists of three subunits: the Advanced Information Technology Core, which acts as a gateway for IU School of Medicine researchers to Research Technologies systems and services; Biomedical Applications, which provides custom applications and services to support life sciences projects; and the Center for Computational Cytomics, which supports basic biology researchers.
